Classes for the absolute newcomer, through to the experienced yoga devotee
At the Bali Yogashala we support yoga devotees from the very experienced as well as those just starting out on the yoga journey. Our Beginners classes are divided into two levels. Beginners 1 is designed for the absolute beginner, or the devotee who is returning to yoga after a long period away. Step-by-step instruction is given on the fundamentals on body alignment through the basic Yoga poses. You will be guided through standing poses, sitting poses and restorative poses. Emphasis is on alignment, flexibility, stability, strength, balance and relaxation. Beginners 2 builds on these fundamentals and introduces a deeper level of understanding and proficiency by exposing the student to more challenging asanas and techniques. Our Intermediate classes are designed for the experienced student who practises on a regular basis. Despite being called “intermediate” they will also satisfy long-time practioners who might normally attend advanced classes. Once a week we host a Vinyasa class. This is a flowing, dynamic form of yoga, connected to breath or pranayama in which yoga and mudra transitions are embodied as linkages within and between asanas. It is a very aerobic form of exercise, and to enjoy it to the full, it requires a relatively high level of fitness.
